Conference coordinator of Light Symposium 2022 at Aalborg University Copenhagen (DK)

It was my absolute pleasure to be the coordinator of this year’s conference, held at the Copenhagen Campus of Aalborg University in September 2022. This was the 8th Light Symposium. The first one dating back to 2008 held in Wismar, Germany. With the climate crisis as the greatest challenge of our time there is a need to rethink the role of lighting design together. Therefore, Light Symposium 2022 invited researchers, professionals and students to contribute to how lighting design can play an essential role in a sustainable future.

50+ conference papers, keynotes and panel discussions

We welcomed more than 170 conference guest, 50+ paper presentations, two keynote talks from renown speakers (Glenn Shrum and Mark Ridler), two panel discussions, networking meetings, social events and more. The programme and the recorded highlights of the conference can be found here.

On our two panel discussions, we had invited scientists and practitioners to share their views on sustainable lighting design and research for better built environment of tomorrow. We had the pleasure to welcome Katharina Wulff, Marie-Claude Dubois, Mandana Sarey Khanie and Lyn Godley on our scientific panel. And on our design panel (video below), Vladan Paunovic, Jørgen Kjer, Michael F. Rohde and Iben Winther Orton shared their insights working in praxis.
